From Dumpster Bound to Homeward Bound

When your neighborhood free site has a piece of furniture - obviously you have to pick it up!

The thing about FB groups is that you don't always know what you're going to get. This cabinet was made of wood and MDF.

Process

This type of project would take about a day - if you didn't have a ton of distractions!

ree

  1. Sand all the wood accents; I used my Surf Prep sander.

  2. Clean and prep for magic making

  3. Paint all MDF surfaces with Heirloom Traditions Paint in Almond *Tip: I use the brush/roller method - it helps with keeping the brush strokes at bay

  4. Stain the wood with Old Masters Gel Stain in Natural Walnut *Tip: I use an old t-shirt to do this; be sure to follow all safety precautions on the container!

  5. To calm down the white on the MDF, I applied Java Glaze *Tip: Use a magic eraser (trust me) to apply, then use a dustpan brush to get texture

  6. Apply paintable wallpaper (make sure you let it dry before you paint it!)

  7. Apply a topcoat, as needed. I topcoat almost everything because... well, I have kids, and a dog, and sometimes I'm not super careful with all my things...
